Glenburn ANZAC Day Service
Glenburn ANZAC Day Dawn Service 2010
About 180 people braved the cold and foggy morning to attend the traditional Glenburn dawn Service.
The Service was organised by Maggie Taylor on behalf of the Glenburn Hall and Progress Association Inc and presented with dignity by Leonard Sheahan. The School of Artillery Catafalque party from Puckapunyal was piped in by our own local and International renowned Scottish piper Paul Wainscott who played Amazing Grace during the laying of wreaths and tributes. Sue Conrau read the ANZAC Requiem and Elouise Lando read the New Generation and the Origins of the Last Post was given by Maggie Taylor. Councillor Cris Ruhr addressed the gathering on a reflective theme and with Trevor Toulson placed wreaths on-behalf of the Murrindindi Shire Council and the residents of Glenburn.
Following the Service a BBQ breakfast including ANZAC biscuits, home made soup, and fruit cake was served. A brief light shower of rain at the commencement of proceedings did not damper the attendance which was the largest ever. A party of 10 nurses returned from Leongatha and made the very long trip, as a result of having, by chanced dropped in last year. Several attendees came from Melbourne as well as a couple from Ballarat.
Sincere thanks to all the helpers that made it such a resounding success with special thanks to the Glenburn Gardening Group for the preparation of the immaculate grounds.
